6monthtracker

I am RUBBISH with money.

Like…seriously.

One of my goals for this year is to get waaaaaaay better at tracking my income, expenses and forecasting.

As anyone who knows me will know, I’m a Filofax addict. So…I decided to design a 6 Month Income Tracker that will fit nicely inside my A5 Raspberry Finsbury, and I thought I would share it freely for anyone else who may be able to benefit from it.

I find it so difficult to think too far into the future (it’s the Sage in me – I like to keep my options open). Deciding on a yearly, three-yearly or five-yearly income figure is great, but for me, I think I need to have something a little less distant to work with.

So…I decided that I wanted to set an income target for the next 6 months.

This target is how much I want to bring IN to my business. By dividing this into six, I have a monthly target…and then dividing that by four, I have a weekly target.

Every Sunday evening, I’m going to spend half an hour on having a review of the money I brought in during the week. I’m going to enter the total figure in the weekly tracker, and commit to doing this for six months.

At the end of each month, there’s a box for ‘Monthly Total’: this is how much I brought in over the four-week period.

It’s a well-known fact that what you focus on, grows. Yet I am notoriously bad at watching my figures – something I need to grow this year to ensure my business is sustainable πŸ™‚

Here is a close-up of the tracker itself:

The insert is sized for an A5 Filofax, and the PDF has two trackers on one sheet. I printed mine on card, punched the holes in the side (using one of these) and then washi-taped the side for a bit of cuteness.
